But I hear that’s a very non-American AK-47 (edit: AK-74, I’m dyslexic)
Not my pic, BTW

Given having swear words on the side of your car where children can see shows the type of person that drives this, the rifle could be Swiss and I don’t think it would matter.

I could be wrong, but AK 47s have been banned for imports from the old USSR block (Thanks Obama). To circumvent that and also to make them non automatic, company out in Vegas or Florida is making them. So I believe it might could be ‘Murican made. I think the company is CenturyArms but I think at this point there may be a few.
Design may have been created by Soviet Mr. Kalashnikov, but they are now made all over the place.
Sorta like tires... They may have been invented in one place, but are now made by many different companies all over the world.

It’s a 1500, made in Michigan.

- Red truck
- Simplistic red on white background artwork littered with red stars
He’s essentially driving an early-WW2 Soviet propaganda poster...

Quite a few companies are making AK pattern rifles. Like the AR-15, any patents have expired on it so anyone can make one but most of the AKs are junk. Also, commies. If he was a real ‘Murican he would be packing something created by the great JMB with a decimal.

Junk or not is a matter of opinion. Based on the color of truck, I am willing to venture a guess - immigrant from the old block. Proud of certain heritage and not so much other. Probably a US citizen exercising his 1st amendment and most likely second amendment as well. Nothing to see here. Move along

the beauty of AK as it was designed was not in quality, but in quantity.
I believe it was the Vietnam war where soviet rifle was put up against American rifle. The dirt and mud of the jungle jammed up many of the US rifles with tight tolerances and higher precision and longer accuracy, but AK shined in the dirt. Larger tolerances and less accuracy made it operational more of the time compared to US rifle. While it may not be as accurate or as effective in long range, shorter range, it is pretty damn good and most importantly operational

I definitely think there is a benefit to a direct blowback vs. gas impingement. But being poorly assembled out of cheap materials with things misaligned and then riveted together isn’t a great place to start. Even PSA started making them but last I heard they had issues with guide rods and main springs failing.

I am no expert on either technology. Internet is half full of smut and half full of arguments about which is better. Based on popularity world wide, I would say AK dominates.

That so called reliability of the AK is not entirely accurate. In comparison to the rival AR, the AK/AKM is actually quite vulnerable to mud and dirt build up.
However, the AK is cheap to run, somewhat accurate and doesn’t mind misuse. Aka, fixed with a hammer.
The issues seen with the AR in Vietnam was mainly caused by wrong ammo, poor training and lack of cleaning kits. Otherwise, the AR is a more accurate and more capable platform compared to the AK/AKM variants.

The Bush (HW) administration banned the import of assault weapons back in 1989. It had nothing to do with Obama. Then Bush (W) banned the import of barrels. But yeah, Obama was gonna take ‘er guns!
Most AKs in the US are shipped over as parts and then reassembled into rifles. When they’re reassembled they have to use, I think, no more than ten foreign parts.
Century Arms was popular for importing used Romanian parts kits (WASRs). They’re pieces of shit. Arsenal imported sporting version of the AK from the the Izhmash factory in Russia and converted them into “assault form” using US parts (usually just triggers, furniture and sights). The receivers and barrels are all russian. Source: I’ve owned like ten of them.
Also, the pic on the truck is an AK-74. Shoots a different round than the 47 variants.

I think it was originally American Assfuck, and the AK74 symbolizes how the Soviets got fucked up in Afghanistan when the US funded Islamic terrorists to fight them.
I’m sure there’s a 9-11 sticker on that truck somewhere showing how short sighted US foreign policy in Afghanistan really came back to bite America.
It’s actually a very nuanced truck decal.

Well, ill give a 5% chance he may be very astute if not snarky about the education level in America and wanted to make a point, knowing what he was putting on his truck, but ill give him a 110% chance he didn’t know that gun was as Russian as (fuck) as his truck is all Russian red as .

Shouldn’t that be a Stoner-designed AR-15 and not a Kalashnikov-inspired AK?

“Kalashnikov himself never secured a patent for the rifle’s design, which the Soviet Union licensed to foreign manufacturers in China and Eastern Europe. According to the Associated Press, Kalashnikov Concern, then known as the Izhevsk Machine Works, finally obtained a state patent for the AK-47 in 1997. Anatoly Isaikin, chief of Russia’s state arms trader Rosoboronexport, announced in 2009 that Russia would step up enforcement of the Kalashnikov copyright, citing “financial losses” and a “tarnished brand,” according to the AP.”

I wasn’t paying too much attention to what the Bushes were doing back in the day... I do remember Obama banning weapons from russia which included AK47. I was a little surprised that AK47s were being imported at all since auto... but I guess they used to tweak them
![]() 01/31/2018 at 10:21 |

Obama never banned AK47s from Russia because they were already banned by Bush...in 1989. Importation and manufacture of automatic weapons was banned by Reagan in 1986 when he signed the Firearm Owners Protection Act into law. This is why I think it is hilarious when ignorant conservatives were claiming Obama was going to take their guns away.
The Obama administration enacted economic sanctions on Russia on account of them invading Ukraine. Russian rifles are, you guessed it, made by Russian companies, so it became illegal to import them. It had nothing to do with them being AK47s.
![]() 01/31/2018 at 10:23 |

Exactly. No patents expired, because they didn’t exist until 1997.

The angle of the dangle on the mag shows it’s a 5.45 gun and not 7.62. Also the triangle folder with 90 degree gas block are dead giveaways. The AK100 has the 90 degree block but didn’t come with a triangle folder.
